CULTURAL JOY
CONNECTING THROUGH LEARNING
In collaboration with performers, composers and cultural leaders throughout the United States and beyond, Cultural Joy explores the inner workings of musical traditions from around the world. The program aims to expand accessibility to instrumental music performances and foster cultural awareness in the community.
For this cooperative series, one or more invited world music performing artists present an interactive lecture-chamber recital designed for school-aged and senior communities. This lecture-recital educates audiences on at least two specific cultural traditions or compositions, encourages participation in the music of the highlighted culture, and inspires conversation and connection.
Through this initiative, K-12 students at five (5) designated Title I schools and aging adults at five (5) senior community centers experience an enrichment of cultural awareness and music education.
